For more than twenty years, Seattle-based musician, educator and writer David Marriott, Jr. has been playing, composing, writing about, and teaching music. A long-time fan of creative graphic design work, he has decided to bring his experience and expertise in the music world to the design world, in an attempt to create images and designs both educational and entertaining -- both visually interesting and informative.

This new site, Red Raspus Design, is an extension of his main site, Red Raspus Music. This site will serve as a portfolio for completed projects, as well as a hub for links regarding each design. Each design page includes links for purchasing, with most available as posters and postcards, but also some other items, as well.

Thanks for checking out the site, and come back soon for more music-related stuff from Red Raspus Design.

Visualizing Kind of Blue: Flamenco Sketches
Visualizing Kind of Blue is a new series of designs depicting jazz music concepts and elements, much like the Periodic Table of Jazz. Visualizing Kind of Blue: Flamenco Sketches attempts to show the form and harmony used by each soloist on the fifth track of the classic Miles Davis album, Kind of Blue. Visualizing Kind of Blue: Flamenco Sketches is the first in a series of designs about the album, which will eventually be collected into one giant poster image with all the tracks on one poster.

Influence Maps
The “influence map” meme has been floating around for a bit, and I’m always one to jump on a creative opportunity, so I’ve made a few of these for myself, and a few for friends at their request. It’s a fun exercise, regardless of the scope you choose to use for yourself. They make a great postcard and educational tool, too!
Would you like to have one made?
Don’t have the design skills yourself, but really want one? Feel free to contact me about it!
