This poster, based on the Periodic Table of Elements, displays an evolution of jazz style, improvisation, and innovation in a beautiful full-color poster that can be used as a teaching aid, as an item of creative room decoration for the jazz fan, or as a self-guided discovery of jazz music — The Periodic Table of Jazz.
Visualizing Kind of Blue is a new series of designs depicting jazz music concepts and elements, much like the Periodic Table of Jazz. Visualizing Kind of Blue: Flamenco Sketches attempts to show the form and harmony used by each soloist on the fifth track of the classic Miles Davis album, Kind of Blue. Visualizing Kind of Blue: Flamenco Sketches is the first in a series of designs about the album, which will eventually be collected into one giant poster image with all the tracks on one poster.
Inspired by the “Keep Calm and Carry On” meme that has been sweeping the interwebs, here’s my jazz-related take, with homage to Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, and Thelonious Monk.
The “influence map” meme has been floating around for a bit, and I’m always one to jump on a creative opportunity, so I’ve made a few of these for myself, and a few for friends at their request. It’s a fun exercise, regardless of the scope you choose to use for yourself. They make a great postcard and educational tool, too!
Don’t have the design skills yourself, but really want one? Feel free to contact me about it!
